Cautus Geo on the ice in Sandvika

12. February 2016

Written by Mike Voellmecke

Cautus Geo is monitoring turbidity using measuring buoys around a construction site at Kadettangen. Construction work is in full swing throughout the winter, requiring the measuring equipment to be operational despite the cold and ice. Fortunately, there have been some cold spells this winter, which means that the ice has been passable and safe. The ice actually makes it easier to carry out maintenance in the winter, as we don't have to use boats to transport the buoys to shore.

Water samples are taken all year round, so in winter we have to drill a number of holes in the ice. The last time we went out for maintenance, we took a film camera with us and got great pictures both above and below water!

In addition to water quality monitoring, Cautus Geo measures settlement and pore pressure throughout the site. All measurements from the project are sent in real time to Cautus Webwhere the customer has a full overview of all data.
