Steering for continued growth for Cautus Geo

New rockfall radar, new data loggers, a new smart stream intake and new local offices. This is how much of 2022 can be summarised. Cautus Geo is steering for continued growth.

Since 2009, Cautus Geo has been monitoring natural hazards such as Mannen and Åkneset. Continuous growth, technology development and new solutions are part of the company's identity. "We are committed to developing new, more robust and even better solutions for continuous and automatic monitoring," says CEO Odd Sverre Østlie.

PE fund Equip took over Cautus Geo one year ago. At the same time, Østlie became the new CEO. The pace of research and development remains strong.

- "Last year we launched Cautus Rockfall Radar and new data loggers," says CTO Lars Krangnes.

- Innovations make us even better rigged for continued growth," says Østlie.

Speed of sales

Kim Lindmark is the first sales manager in Cautus Geo's history. He took up the position in March this year.

- We will grow organically and through acquisitions. One of the measures is to get closer to our customers. This involves establishing a dedicated position with clear responsibilities. It strengthens us in sales and marketing," says Østlie.

So do the new offices. The Tromsø office was established last summer. The largest contract so far is for the monitoring of the new E6 motorway tunnel. Cautus Geo also established a new office in Western Norway last year.

- "We're getting closer to our customers through the new local offices in Bergen and Tromsø. This will have a positive effect," says Østlie.

Co2 emissions

Construction is an important area for Cautus Geo. It's all about monitoring ground conditions and structures. Cautus Geo has been one of the partners in Klimagrunn.

- The method we have helped to develop reduces CO2 emissions in ground stabilisation through less use of lime and cement. This is good for the climate, resource use and costs. It also fits in well with our environmental profile. Environmental monitoring is an area of strong development," says COO Atle Gerhardsen.

In the field of the environment, Cautus Geo has improved support for measuring vibration and noise in Cautus Web over the past year.

Growth and purchases

- Increased activity leads to organic growth. New developments and new resources in sales and marketing, such as Kim Lindmark, will increase our activity.

Sales growth last year was around ten per cent. The growth strategy involves both organic growth through increased sales, but also partnerships and acquisitions in and outside Norway.

- We are in several dialogues about partnerships and acquisitions. We are taking the necessary time. We need to be sure that everything from culture to technology fits together," says Østlie.
