Tobias has recent experience from his summer placement at Cautus Geo. Over the course of ten weeks, he carried out various field tasks. The geomatics student is now back at NMBU in Ås. His first goal is to complete his bachelor’s degree.
Leading company
Cautus Geo is one of Europe’s leading companies in the field of automated monitoring of natural hazards, structures, buildings and civil engineering works, water and the environment.
The company has developed a wide range of sensor technologies. The Cautus Web cloud solution forms the backbone of automatic and continuous monitoring using real-time data.

– This temporary post is a real boost for my further studies. Putting theoretical knowledge and models into practice provides new insights and a better understanding of the subject, says Tobias.
At Cautus Geo, he has been able to make extensive use of the knowledge he gained during his studies. He has been involved in field installations, project follow-up and logistics.
A substantial contribution
– “Tobias was a great addition to the team and did a brilliant job. We are extremely pleased with his performance and the work he put in over the summer,” says Sigmund Brekke Langelid, who oversees all the fieldwork and assignments carried out by Cautus Geo.
– It’s valuable to see visual data on what we’re working on. It’s very much about positions and coordinates. Instrumented and automated real-time monitoring shows exactly what’s happening on building sites, construction projects and in the natural environment. It’s important to have precise knowledge of the impact of various measures. It’s all about safety and security for high-value assets, says Tobias.
