Cautus Geo is stepping up its environmental and climate efforts - "We're looking for a leader for this initiative," says CEO Atle Gerhardsen (pictured left).
Cautus Geo are experts in geomonitoring. It involves automated monitoring and alerting in areas such as natural hazards, water, environment, climate, building and construction, as well as transport and structures.
It started with the monitoring of natural hazards in 2009. It remains a core area for the company, which since 2014 has also had environment and climate as a growing market.
Off to a modest start
In 2014, Cautus Geo entered the field of water, environmental and climate monitoring for the first time. It started modestly with a small assignment at Kadettangen in Oslo. Since then, water, environment and climate have become an important area.
- Today, we have built a strong position in automatic water, environmental and climate monitoring. We have strengthened our expertise, developed new systems and invested in equipment," says Atle Gerhardsen.
The initiative is now being strengthened. The position of technical manager for the area has been advertised.
- We have solid expertise in environmental monitoring. Our systems are well adapted for automatic monitoring and data capture with the cloud solution Cautus Web, which provides real-time alarms if set limit values are breached. Cautus Web is used in all our business areas," says Gerhardsen.
New key person
The new head of water, environment and climate will be a new key person in Cautus Geo, which has 14 years of growth behind it.
Water, environment and climate will become even more important in the future for the company, which has a framework agreement with NIKU for medieval monitoring, proprietary sensor technology for flood monitoring and sensors for detecting microplastics in an R&D pilot project, to name but a few keywords in the environment and climate sector in recent years.
- Practical people who also enjoy fieldwork, who are technologically forward-looking and who like to be involved from the start to the final report writing, are sought after by us," says Gerhardsen.
Technological leader
Cautus Geo's solutions are technological leaders in monitoring. Its expertise spans various sensor technologies, supported by the company's proprietary cloud solution, Cautus Web. This platform collects, processes, analyses and alerts exceedances of defined threshold values in real time.
In avalanche and rockfall monitoring, the same technology can also close and open roadways.
- "We are a turnkey supplier that often solves everything for the customer. At the same time, our solution is scalable and can be adapted to different needs," says Gerhardsen.
