NTNU student Marthe Kristine Nilsen (22) returns to the University of Trondheim with fresh field experience from Cautus Geo.

- "It's a summer job that has given me a taste for more," says Marthe Kristine Nilsen (22) from Skiptvet in Østfold. She is the first summer employee at Cautus Geo.

This summer, she has put her recent bachelor's degree in environmental and civil engineering geology from NTNU in Trondheim to good use.

For two months she has been working closely with the project managers, who work shifts during the holiday period. She has supported the project managers with assistance in planning and follow-up work in the office, worked closely with Cautus Web and spent a lot of time out in the field. "She has definitely been a good resource for us," says Sigmund Brekke Langelid.

Langelid has nine years' experience at Cautus Geo, where he is responsible for operations. He knows a lot about what it takes to solve assignments involving automatic monitoring and warning of natural hazards, the environment and climate, building and construction, transport and structures.

Strengthened us

- Marthe has strengthened us through the summer. She has been a great support. Our experience of using summer temps has been nothing but good. Of course, this may also be due to the fact that Marthe has contributed with a solid effort, fresh expertise and proved to be a very good colleague," says Langelid.

- "I was made to feel welcome and have experienced good support all the way. At Cautus Geo, there's a low threshold for asking for help and a good climate of co-operation between everyone," says Marthe.

Civil engineer

On Monday 19 August, Marthe is back at NTNU. Her goal is to become a civil engineer.

- "I'm aiming for engineering geology. That's why what I've learnt about geomonitoring in the construction industry, of geohazards and within water and the environment is absolutely relevant to me in my education," says Marthe.

She has gained fresh and broad experience.

- The job has given me a taste for more. It's been a good experience and provided an exciting insight into the industry. And the fact that there's a lot of field work is extra fun.
