From NTNU to Cautus Geo
Civil engineer Emma Sørset (26) is strengthening the development department at Cautus Geo. She joined the team in August this year.

Emma wrote her master's thesis on avalanches. Now she's developing new technology.
- "I'm looking forward to it. It's motivating to continue working with the combination of maths applied to natural hazards and the development of new technology," says Emma.
Cautus Geo is one of Europe's leading technology companies in automatic monitoring of natural hazards, structures, construction, water and the environment. The company has developed a wide range of sensor technology. The Cautus Web cloud solution is the mainstay for automatic and continuous monitoring with real-time data.
Strengthening R&D
- "Research, development and innovation are not slowing down. This includes the development of Cautus Web and other technology such as data loggers, radar solutions and the design of new systems," says Atle Gerhardsen, CEO of Cautus Geo.
He is delighted to have Emma on the team.
- "We're delighted. Emma is joining the development department and will be working on our proprietary products with a particular focus on Cautus Web and our avalanche solutions," says Atle Gerhardsen.
New graduate
Emma has just completed her final studies in physics and maths at NTNU in Trondheim.
- "Cautus Web and natural hazards are two key words for the tasks I'll be taking on. "I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully, new eyes and experience from my professional perspective will be useful in further developing the Cautus Geo technology, which is already a leader today," says Emma.
Field work is part of everyday life for most people at Cautus Geo. It's in the field that technology is useful. That's where Emma fits in well. She is one of those who spends her free time in nature. This often involves climbing, skiing and cycling.
- An interest in nature comes in handy in the job," says Emma.
