Geologist Håvard Hind will head the new Northern Norway office. "It's a unique opportunity that I couldn't say no to," says Hind.

For 13 years, Cautus Geo has monitored landslide-prone mountain areas such as Åkneset and Mannen. The company specialises in geomonitoring. This involves automatic monitoring and alerting of natural hazards, the environment and climate, building and construction, transport and structures.

Cautus Geo is one of Europe's leading technology companies in automatic monitoring of structures, land, water, climate and the environment with a wide range of proprietary sensor technology and the Cautus Web data management system.

Company in growth

- We are experiencing strong growth. There are many exciting projects in Northern Norway. Now we want to strengthen our presence with our own office and invest even more in the far north of the country," says Atle Gerhardsen. He is one of the founders of Cautus Geo. Equip became an owner last year.

- Our strategy is all about growth. We will grow organically and through acquisitions. Establishing our own office in Tromsø fits into this strategy," says Gerhardsen.

The head office is at Lysaker in Oslo. In addition, the company has a Western Norway office in Voss and a local office in Telemark. Tromsø will be the third local office.

Tromsø boy

Håvard Hind is from Tromsø and has a master's degree in geology from his hometown. He has been with Cautus Geo since 2019. At that time, he came from the position of chief engineer at Nord-Troms Jordskifterett.

- Our ambition is to achieve growth and win more contracts with our solutions. They ensure continuous and automatic monitoring of natural hazards, the environment, climate, building and construction, transport and structures. The goal is to create the basis for more positions at the office," says Hind. He is looking forward to returning to Tromsø.

- "I'm attracted by the job, but I'm also drawn northwards by nature, the climate and my immediate family," says Hind.

Natural hazard

Many of the assignments Cautus Geo works on in Northern Norway involve natural hazards. Some of the more well-known ongoing rock slide projects where Cautus Geo has a long track record are Jettan, Indre Nordnes and Gámanjunni.

- We will continue to keep an eye on this. In addition, there are other exciting projects in the region, also in other areas of society, that capture our interest," says Hind.
